Fascias, soffits and guttering in Hampshire

New uPVC fascias, soffits and gutters, plus repairs to overflowing and leaking systems that damage your walls and roof edge.

Signs you may need this

  • Gutters that overflow, sag, leak at joints or are full of plants
  • Green or black staining on the wall under the gutter
  • Rotten, flaking or split fascia boards
  • Soffits that are drooping, cracked or have birds or wasps getting in
  • Water running down walls or pooling at the base of the house

The roof edge keeps water away from your walls

Fascias, soffits and gutters are not the most glamorous part of a roof, but they do an important job. They carry rainwater away from the walls, support the lower row of tiles and keep birds and weather out of the roof space. When they fail, water gets behind the boards, runs down your walls and rots timber.

What we supply and fit

  • uPVC fascias and soffits in white, black, grey and woodgrain finishes, with ventilated soffit options to keep the roof space breathing.
  • Gutters and downpipes in half-round, square and deep-flow profiles, in a range of colours.
  • Replacement of rotten timber at the eaves, including rafter feet where they have been damaged, so the new boards have something sound to fix to.
  • Gutter repairs: re-aligning sagging runs, replacing leaking joints and brackets, and clearing blockages.
  • Bargeboards and verge trims to match the new eaves.

Doing it at the same time as roof work

If you are having your roof repaired or replaced, it often makes sense to do the fascias and gutters at the same time, since the scaffold is already up. That saves you paying for scaffold twice, and the new roof edge is finished in one go.

Keeping gutters working

Even the best gutter system needs cleaning, especially if you have trees nearby. A clear gutter is the cheapest piece of roof maintenance you can do. We can clear and check your gutters, and fit leaf guards where they help, though they are no substitute for the occasional clean.

Questions about fascias, soffits and guttering

What is the difference between a fascia and a soffit?

The fascia is the board fixed to the ends of the rafters, which the gutter attaches to. The soffit is the board underneath the overhang, running between the fascia and the wall. Both protect the roof edge, and soffits can include ventilation.

Is uPVC better than timber?

uPVC needs very little maintenance and does not rot, which is why most homeowners choose it. Timber can be right for period or listed properties, but it needs regular painting. We can advise on what suits your house.

Why is my gutter overflowing?

The usual reasons are a blockage, a sagging run that stops water reaching the downpipe, a joint that has failed or an undersized gutter. We diagnose which one it is and fix it.

Do I need scaffolding to replace fascias and gutters?

On a two-storey house, usually yes, for safe access. It makes the most sense to combine the work with any other roof job so the cost is shared.

Can you fit ventilated soffits?

Yes. Ventilated soffits or over-fascia vents help air flow into the roof space, which reduces condensation and keeps timbers and insulation dry.
